CATALOGUES are the only means of
pricing items. They tell you how much
it originally cost, therefore they are
very important in the world of
collecting.
Any books or magazines associated
with toys, are collectable in their own
rights.
Most shops at Christmas time give
away free catalogues, but how many
of us have catalogues dating from last
year let alone thirty years ago.
It is for this reason that catalogues
are important, they not only give
details of the toys, but their current
values, without which a toy would not
be able to be appreciated.
Catalogues can therefore be regarded
as the collectors bible.
There are also numerous books about
toys and collections, these can also
be an invaluable source of information
to the collector.
As a sad footnote, catalogues can also tell you the future
trend of toys. Unfortunately it seams that with the
onslaught of interactive toys, which seem so popular today.
The human element of playing has been eliminated.
The Christmas of tomorrow will be spent watching your
interactive toys opening their own presents and playing with
them.
A sad thought indeed but one worth considering.
